He was one of the first actors to join the London-based Royal National Theatre.
Alongside actors like Maggie Smith, Michael Redgrave, and Laurence Olivier.
He was awarded a knighthood by Queen Elizabeth in 1998.
He later went on to star in movies like "The King's Speech" (2010) and "Gosford Park" (2001).
For which he was recognized with Screen Actors Guild Awards as having the greatest cast in a motion picture.
After Richard Harris's passing in 2002.
He assumed Dumbledore's post as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry's headmaster beginning with the third "Harry Potter" film.
Gambon played Dumbledore in the series' last six films, while Harris played him in the first two.
